MATTHEWS -- Clarence Garland Couch, 101, of Matthews, formerly of Sikeston, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 1996, at Sells Rest Home in Matthews.
He was born March 18, 1894, in Providence, Ky., son of Henry and Kitty Breman Couch. He and Marian Frances Palmer were married Aug. 6, 1921, in Benton. She died Nov. 24, 1964.
Couch had been a carpenter and a maintenance worker at Coca-Cola Bottling Co. in Sikeston. He was a member of Henry Meldrum American Legion Post 114 in Sikeston. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include three sons, Joe Couch of Murphysboro, Ill., Deneen Couch of Sikeston, Finis Couch of Clinton; a sister, Helen Hill of Helena, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
