CHARLESTON -- Funeral service for Clarence E. White Jr. of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Charleston, was held Saturday at St. Francis Catholic Church in Memphis. Burial was in Memory Hill Cemetery.
White, 76 years old, died Thursday, May 16, 1991, following an extended illness.
He was born Jan. 21, 1915, in Mississippi County, son of Clarence E. and Hazel Griffith White. He and Chlora Dale Sykes were married April 9, 1939.
White was a retired CPA, and had worked with the accounting firm of Peat, Marwick, Mitchell and Co. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Joseph White of Little Rock, Ark.; three daughters, Sharon Ziegler of Cordova, Tenn., Shelia Hunt of Memphis, Carla Hunting of Lindon, Utah; a brother, R. David White of Charleston, and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, R. Joseph White.
