Clara Sides

Clara J. Acup Sides, 87, of Jackson died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born May 11, 1917, in Zalma, Mo., daughter of William H. and Mary E. Gregory Jackson. She and Burl Acup were married March 24, 1944. He died May 20, 1974. She and Raymond P. Sides were married Jan. 6, 1983. He died Nov. 21, 2002.

Sides was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church near Pocahontas and had worked at the former International Shoe Co. in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include a daughter, Delores Saunders of Hamburg, Ill.; three stepsons, Richard and Don Sides of Jackson, Jerry Sides of Jackson, Tenn.; five stepdaughters, Zelma Robison and Joyce Newell of Oak Ridge, Jo Ann Finchum, Pat Craft and Shirley Kester of Jackson; a sister, Nellie Ackman of Jackson; two grandsons; two great-grandsons; a great-grandaughter; 19 stepgrandchildren; and 37 great-stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, two sisters and an infant daughter.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in McGee Cemetery near Grassy, Mo.
