Clara L. Blaylock, 81, of Cape Girardeau, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 1994, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born Jan. 10, 1913, in Scott City, daughter of Robert and Louise Kramer Rubel.

She married Chester Blaylock Feb. 17, 1929, in West Frankfort, Ill. He survives.

Blaylock was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Glenn Circle of the United Methodist Women and the Wesley Sunday School Class.

She owned and operated the Chaffee Beauty Shop for nine years and the Broadway Beauty Shop for four years. She was also a caseworker for the state Division of Family Services. For 31 years, she was a partner with her husband in the Blaylock Grocery store in Cape Girardeau.

Blaylock was an accredited garden and show judge for the American Iris Society. She was also a member of the SEMO and Mineral Area Iris Societies and the American and Mineral Area Day Lilies Societies.

In addition to her husband, survivors are two daughters, Jacqueline Scarborough, Citrus Heights, Calif., and Linda King, Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Friends may call today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home.

Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Neil Stein officiating. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery.
