Clara Jones

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Clara Jo "Mickie" Jones, 70, of Sikeston died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Sept. 10, 1935, at Sikeston to Malcolm and E. LaRue Heath Monan. She and Glen Jones were married in 1956 at Corinth, Miss, and he died on March 31, 1985.

Jones was a registered nurse, working at the Cairo, Ill., hospital and for Noranda Aluminum in New Madrid, Mo. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star chapter in Cairo, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3319 in Sikeston.

Survivors include a son, Scott Jones of Glendale Heights, Ill.; a stepson, Glen M. Jones of Ocalo, Fla.; five daughters, Judy Hargrove of Sikeston, Glynna McWaters of Barlow, Ky., Martha Henckell of Jackson, Casey Hoffman of Union City, Tenn., Jennifer Young of Dayton, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Barbara Gray of Marietta, Ga.; a sister, Joyce Poynor of Wickliffe, Ky.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
