CLARA HAND

JACKSON -- Clara Audrine Hand, 89, of Jackson died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, at John C. Lincoln Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz.

She was born Nov. 27, 1910, in Gorham, Ill., daughter of Glenn E. and Zura Rednour Mattingly. She and Harvey Hand were married May 2, 1931, in Gorham. He died Sept. 4, 1999.

Hand taught first and second grades in Pomona, Ill., eight years, and also eight years in Carbondale, Ill.

She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church in Millersville and the Illinois Teachers Retirement System.

Survivors include a son, Lyle Hand of Phoenix; three daughters, Alma Price of Holton, Ind., Julia Mazur of Grafton, Okla., Linda Dean of Phoenix; a sister, Lora Johnson of Sterrett, Ala.; six grandsons; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a son, a brother and a sister.

Friends may call at Pettett Funeral Home in Murphysboro, Ill., from 5-8 p.m. today and Thursday until service time.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Calvin Brown officiating. Burial will be in Murdale Gardens of Memory in Murphysboro.
