JACKSON -- Clayton LeRoy "Roy" Ury, 75, of Jackson, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Sept. 12, 1920, in Jonesboro, Ill., son of William Glen and Ruth Irene Lyerly Ury. He and Martha Verble were married Oct. 8, 1941, in Charleston. She died July 14, 1994.
Ury had farmed in Alexander County, Ill. He moved to Jackson in 1981. He was a member of Ware Baptist Church in Ware, Ill., and a member of Farm Bureau. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Harpole of Alton, Ill., Janice Washburn of Decatur, Ill.; a brother, Joe Ury of Jonesboro; a sister, Betty Mattheis of Anna, Ill.; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel in Cape Girardeau. The Rev. Eddie Dodson will officiate. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery at McClure, Ill.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 11 a.m. to service time.
