Christine G. Ellis, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at Chateau Girardeau. She was born Feb. 18, 1911, at Marquand, Mo., daughter of Columbus N. and Elsie Killian Davis. She and Edward Charles Ellis were married Oct. 28, 1928. He was a United Methodist minister in Missouri 41 years. They retired to Cape Girardeau in 1971 from St. Louis. He preceded her in death in 1976...

Christine G. Ellis, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at Chateau Girardeau.

She was born Feb. 18, 1911, at Marquand, Mo., daughter of Columbus N. and Elsie Killian Davis. She and Edward Charles Ellis were married Oct. 28, 1928.

He was a United Methodist minister in Missouri 41 years. They retired to Cape Girardeau in 1971 from St. Louis. He preceded her in death in 1976.

She was an active member of Centenary United Methodist Church and belonged to the United Methodist Women's organization and church circles.

She was a volunteer at Southeast Missouri Hospital. Through the years she faithfully took part in the community activities everywhere she lived. She welcomed friends and fed many strangers in need at her doors.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Naomi and Bill Wright of Aubrey, Texas, Hannah and James Grenia of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; a brother, Raymond Davis of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.

There is no visitation.

Funeral service will be Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, at 3 p.m. at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. Dr. Clayton Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Robert Smith, Jerry Ellis, Jim Grenia, Roy Kempe, Randy Davis and the Rev. Robert Hester.

She leaves the following thoughts to friends and family: "Love is eternal, continuous. We take it with us and we leave it behind to bless friends and all of every age. We cannot analyze it but is an eternal power and grows stronger with the eternal ties of God. Life is eternal and grows stronger in the eternal presence of God." -- From a sermon by Ed Ellis.
