Chris Whitaker

Chaffee, Mo. -- Chris Whitaker, son of Marilyn Lawson Lindy of Chaffee and the late DeVere Whitaker was born Jan. 2, 1964, in Torrance, California. He departed this life Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis at the age of 55 years.

On June 21, 1991, he was united in marriage to Tracy Kinder. Mrs. Whitaker survives of the home in Chaffee.

Chris was a former supervisor for Carr Textile in Sikeston, Missouri, was of the First Christian Church faith in Chaffee, member of the Elks Lodge No. 1810 and a resident in Chaffee.

Besides his wife and mother, survivors include a son, Christopher Whitaker II of Chaffee; brothers, Tony Whitaker of Chaffee, Kirk Whitaker of St. Louis and Dale Granda of Dittmer, Missouri; and sisters, Shelia Ottman of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, Sharron Winslow of Veneta, Oregon, and Jesse Whitaker of St. Clair, Missouri.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Elks Lodge service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Steve Shepard officiating. Interment will follow at a later date.
