DEXTER, Mo. -- Chris "Mo" Mofield, son of Jerry Lee Mofield and Shelba Lane Mofield of Dexter, was born Aug. 19. 1964, in Cape Girardeau. He departed this life at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter Thursday, July 6, 2006, at the age of 41. DEXTER, Mo. -- Chris "Mo" Mofield, son of Jerry Lee Mofield and Shelba Lane Mofield of Dexter, was born Aug. 19. 1964, in Cape Girardeau. He departed this life at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter Thursday, July 6, 2006, at the age of 41.

Chris attended First Baptist Church in Dexter, was employed as a funeral director with Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter the past 20 years.

He was a 1983 graduate of Dexter Senior High School where he served as athletic manager; was a member of Dexter Lions Club where he served as secretary and past president; was a former president of Dexter Community Betterment; was honored in 1989 as Dexter's Man of the Year; was a member of Hickory Log Saturday Lunch Bunch; and a resident of Dexter.

He was united in marriage to Donna Jo Boyer Sept. 30, 2000, at Dexter. Mrs. Mofield survives of the home in Dexter.

Besides his wife and parents, survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Amy and Rick Delay of Bloomfield, Mo.; nieces, Courtney and Chelsea Delay of Bloomfield; mother-in-law, Barbara Boyer of Sikeston, Mo.; father-in-law, Gary Boyer of Sikeston; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Renee Boyer of Jackson; nephews, Jonathan and Jerod Boyer of Jackson; special aunt and uncle, Marla and Richard Bailey of Dexter; his maw and paw, Bud and Marlene Creg of Dexter; and two men he considered as brothers, Darrel Pyle and Terry Faulkner.

He was preceded in death by a close personal friend, Byron "Butch" Beard.

Friends may call at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 3 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Phil Warren, Dale Rogers and Eric Mathis officiating. Graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday at Dexter Cemetery.
