MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Chris Metcalf Sr., 49, of Marble Hill, formerly of Las Vegas, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2020, after a long battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL).
He was born July 23, 1970, in Chaffee, Missouri, to Jim and Linda Hunsaker Metcalf. Chris married the love of his life and best friend, Diane Watkins, in December 1990.
He was a proud union heavy-equipment operator, Local 12 of Las Vegas, who was well respected and known for his incredible work ethic that he passed onto his children.
He had many interests in his life, but the one thing he was most proud of was the love and dedication to his family and his beautiful granddaughters. Chris lived life on his terms; he was passionate about spreading his knowledge of guns and gun safety. He worked hard and played even harder. Chris had nicknames for all of his children, grandchildren and, at times, even their friends. He always had sayings that were at times insightful for the instant or could bring a chuckle to a moment of seriousness.
He leaves behind a wife, Diane Watkins Metcalf; son, Christopher (Brittany) Metcalf Jr.; daughter, Shannon (Ernie Kon) Metcalf; parents, Jim and Linda Metcalf; granddaughters, Grace, Zoey and Bristol; brother, Mark Metcalf; in-laws, Don and Linda Watkins; sister-in-law, Crystal (Jeff) Parks; brothers-in-law, Don Watkins Jr., Darin (Kim) Watkins and J.R. (Leslie) Watkins; and 17 nieces and nephews, many of whom he had a special bond with.
He was preceded in death by William K. Wallace, the best rat terrier ever.
Chris' family is broken knowing that he is gone, but at peace knowing he is in a better place.
A celebration of life will be held July 25 at Knights of Columbus Hall in Oran, Missouri.
Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
