MALDEN -- Funeral service for Chester "Toad" Bryant of Malden will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Dale Shoup officiating. Burial will be in Rosewood Cemetery.

Bradshaw Funeral Home at Malden is in charge of arrangements.

Bryant, 85, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 1996, at Doctors' Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

He was born Dec. 23, 1910, at McGuire, son of John C. and Nora Bryant. He was raised by J.A. and Dora Fry. Bryant and Lula Wagoner were married Dec. 9, 1931, at Malden.

Bryant had worked at Bryant Sand and Gravel Co. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church, and was a former deacon and trustee.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, George Bryant of Wappapello, Bob Bryant of Malden, Roger Bryant of Cape Girardeau, Mark Bryant of Park Hills; two daughters, Barbara Borders of Kennett, Carolyn Chappell of Dexter; two half sisters, Lorene Kirkley of Malden, Mae Duncan of Blakely, Ark.; 13 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, a brother and a half sister.
