N. Chester Blaylock, 86, 108 S. West End Boulevard, died Friday, Nov. 15, 1996, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born Jan. 9, 1910, at Highland, son of Robert and Margaret Fleming Blaylock. He and Clara Rubel were married Feb. 17, 1929, in West Frankfort, Ill. She died Dec. 28, 1994.
Blaylock owned and operated Blaylock Grocery 31 years. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and its Men's Club, Southeast Missouri and Mineral Area Iris Society, American and Mineral Area Day Lilies Societies, and American Association of Retired Persons.
He was an accredited garden show judge for the American Iris Society.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda King of Cape Girardeau, Jackie Scarborough of Citrus Heighs, Calif.; a brother, Larry Blaylock of O'Fallon; three sisters, Oletta Cole of Farmington, Theresa Randol of Jackson, Marjorie Hildebrand of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. Neil Stein officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.
