Chesley D. Bess, 55, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015, at his home.
He was born Sept. 27, 1959, in Cape Girardeau to Earl and Damie Ramsey Bess. He and Deborah Smith were married in 1988 at Cape Girardeau.
He was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church.
Chesley was a graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University.
During his days at Southeast, he played football. He was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan and played for their Triple A team during the baseball strike. Chesley also was a competitive bowler in the Cape Girardeau area leagues, bowling 300 on three occasions.
He worked for Procter & Gamble here for more than 17 years.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah "Debbie" Bess of Cape Girardeau; daughters Jillian Bess of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and McKenzie Bess of Belleville, Illinois; and father Earl Bess of Cape Girardeau.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Damie Ramsey Bess
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital.
