Cheryl Ann Walker, 51, of Carterville, Ill., died Friday, May 27, 2011 at her home.
Cheryl was born Dec. 21, 1959 in Herrin, Ill., to Everett "Goose" and Nancy Ann Smith Walker.
She worked at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale for more than 20 years as an administrative assistant.
Cheryl enjoyed reading, gardening, bowling, traveling and making crafts. She also enjoyed listening to a wide variety of music. Her favorite artist was Elvis.
She is survived by her sister, Vicki Lynn Walker of Cape Girardeau; aunts, Ellen Coffman, Jeanie Forrest, Peggy Hickman, Pat Warren, Emma Davis; uncles, Jim Smith and Fred Walker; and special friend, Jim Johnson of Carterville.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Riggin-Pillatsch and Burke Funeral Home in Carterville.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ralph Brandon officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Southern Illinois Center for Independent Living, To Help the Blind, 2135 W. Ramada Lane, Carbondale, IL 62901. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
