Charlotte M. Griffith, 66, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at her home after a long and courageous battle with Sjogren's syndrome.

She was born Feb. 12, 1954, the second child of Roy C. and Mildred L. Prater Simmons. Charlotte was united in marriage to Steven T. Griffith on May 10, 1985, in Cape Girardeau. She was of Christian faith.

Charlotte was raised on a farm in Alexander County, Illinois. She was a 1972 graduate of Egyptian High School in Tamms, Illinois, and she attended Shawnee College and Southeast Missouri State University, majoring in art. She worked her entire professional life in banking, beginning at Farmers & Merchants Bank in 1973. Over her career, she worked through the mergers of Farmers & Merchants Bank, Boatmen's Bank and Bank of America. Her last position was with US Bank, retiring early in 2010 due to health reasons.

Charlotte was a generous and loving person. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the beach, Atlanta and Memphis, Tennessee. Charlotte possessed great talent and creativity and was known in the local craft circles for her beautiful work. She was also known for her love of Christmas and her great Christmas parties at which time her house was filled with beautiful holiday decorations of her creation, homemade goodies and lots of fun with family and friends. She will be missed by many family and friends who dearly loved her.

Loving survivors include her husband, Steven T. Griffith; sister and best friend, Deborah Simmons (Kenneth) Fulton of Cape Girardeau; stepdaughter, Jennifer (Henry) Blank of Memphis; and niece, Angela (Gabriel) Navarro and their children, Grace and Luke, of Atlanta, whom she cherished as her own. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and special friends, Karen Penrod and Jill Halbert.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She will be laid to rest in a special place near her parents, grandparents and family members during a private graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes, Illinois, with Chaplain Fred Burgard officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rose Hill Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 159, Thebes, IL 62990.
