MARBLE HILL -- Charley Warren James, 86, of Marble Hill died Saturday, June 29, 1991, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born April 20, 1905, in Zalma, the son of Henry Levi and Minnie Belle Thomas James. On Aug. 11, 1958, he married Edna Jud, who survives of Marble Hill.
He was associated with Swift and Co. Meats of Little Rock, Ark. as an accountant for a number of years. He also worked in banking in Springfield for several years, before becoming an evangelist.
In 1978, he established a prison and jail ministry in Southeast Missouri and coordinated the Emmaes Bible Correspondence Courses. He was an elder at the Marble Hill Bible Chapel and director of the El Nathan Home in Marble Hill
Survivors include a sister, Helen Zimmerman of Glen Allen and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at Baker Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Baker Funeral Chapel with Glenn Lightfoot and Stuart Henrich officating. Burial will be in Baker Cemetery near Marble Hill.
