Charles Lee "Charlie" Wendel, 78, of Jackson passed away Monday, July 6, 2020, at his home.

He was born Sept. 16, 1941, in Cape Girardeau, son of Martin Henry and Nelda Elizabeth Kasten Wendel. He and Barbara Diane Stueve were married Sept. 21, 1962.

Charlie graduated from Jackson High School in 1958. He worked at the former Jackson Hosiery Mill, went into the National Guard and worked for Federal Express as a delivery driver, where he worked for 25 years until his deserving retirement.

Loving survivors include his wife of 57 years; daughter, Shari (Boo) Murphy and a son, Jeff (Nicole) Wendel, both of Jackson; sister, Shirley Soehl of Jackson; and grandchildren, Charley Ann Wendel, and two other grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bobby Wendel; and brother-in-law, Kenny Soehl.

The family wishes to honor Charlie's request, and there will be no services.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to charity of choice.

McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson has been entrusted with the final care and arrangements of Mr. Wendel.
