Charles E. Weber, 71, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000.
He was born Sept. 4, 1929 in Sedalia, Mo., son of Harry E. Weber and Mary Boyle Weber.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He owned and operated Charles Weber Insurance Agency for many years.
He was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University and had played football for the college. He was a referee for high school football games and was a past member of the Cape Girardeau Board of Education.
He operated the Jaycee golf course and helped design and build the back nine holes of the course. He also was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Jan Goncher and Kathy Bertrand, both of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Jim Weber of Independence, Mo., and Bill Weber of Desoto, Mo.; two sisters, Mary Alice Weber of Desoto and Margie Fitzgerald of Hillsboro, Mo.; and four grandchildren, Adam Bertrand, Jenny Goncher, Megan Goncher and Ben Bertrand, all of Cape Girardeau.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4:30-7 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Centenary United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Clayton Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Desoto City Cemetery.
