OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Charles F. Tucker, 93, of Overland Park, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019, at Tallgrass Creek Assisted Living in Overland Park.

He was born Dec. 14, 1925, in Thebes, Illinois, to Sam F. and Emma Sexton Tucker. He and Leona Lewis were married May 16, 1946, in Jackson, for 73 years.

He served in the Navy in World War II.

He loved fishing and gardening. He was very active with his wife in Pioneer Partners (Southwestern Bell), delivered Meals on Wheels for several years, rang the bell for Salvation Army and was active in Veterans Home ministry.

He was a serviceman for Singer sewing machines for 30 years.

He was a member of First General Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau for more than 60 years.

Survivors include his wife, Leona Tucker of Overland Park; daughter, Kathy (Greg) Best of Stilwell, Kansas; son, Garold (Linda) Tucker of Ponca City, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will follow at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Ramdial officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to Mid-America Teen Challenge.
