Charles Dewayne Terry, 85, of Oak Ridge, formerly of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023, in Sedalia, Missouri.
He was born Jan. 6, 1938, in Union County, Illinois, son of Otis Earl and Hazel Marie Rumfelt Terry. He and Patsy Jean Hanners were married March 20, 1960, at First Baptist Church in Jackson. She passed away Aug. 19, 2016.
Charles served in the U.S. Army from July 13, 1954, until Nov. 23, 1956. For a short time, he owned and operated a gas station in Jackson. He later worked in accounting and bookkeeping. Charles enjoyed beekeeping, commercial fishing and building model tow boats.
Loving survivors include two sisters, Barbara Mason of Cape Girardeau and Martha Heider of Carbondale, Illinois; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Norman, Donald, Roy, George and Richard Terry; two sisters, Betty Louise Piper and Marion Earlene Moore; and an infant brother, Carrol Terry.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday, June 5, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 5, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joshua Schmidt officiating.
Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
The family suggests contributions be made to church or charity of the donor's choice.
