Charles Oliver Sims, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at his home.
He was born Nov. 3, 1936, in Creal Springs, Illinois, to Harry and Alice Glen Sims. He and Ruby Diana Dyer were married Feb. 14, 1997, in Cape Girardeau.
Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a truck driver many years.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby D. Sims of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Edward Lee (Sylvia) Moore of East Cape Girardeau, Illinois, and Charles "Chuck" Sims Jr. of Jackson; a daughter, Lisa (James) Penny of Scott City; two brothers, Carl "Johnny" (Betty) Sims of Cape Girardeau and Michael Wayne "Sandra" Sims of McKenzie, Tennessee; a sister, Carolyn (Harry) Fitzpatrick of De Soto, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Lois Kickerbocker of Texas; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; great-nieces; and a great-great-nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two half brothers, Paul (Anna May) Sims and James "Nick" Kickerbocker.
A graveside service will be at noon today at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating.
Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
