Charles Wayne Simms, 67, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 22, 1940, in Ridgely, Tenn., son of J.T. and Gladys Edgin Simms. He and Abby Ardella Floyd were married May 16, 1964, in Rector, Ark.
Simms was a commercial painter in St. Louis and Cape Girardeau. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
He served in the National Guard.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Valorie Long of McClure, Ill., Vickie Klein of Inman, S.C., Veronica Oetting of San Clemente, Calif.; two sons, Robin Simms of Cape Girardeau, Charles Simms Jr. of Deer Park, Texas; his mother of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Steve Simms of St. Louis; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, a brother and a sister.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Floyd officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
