EAST PRAIRIE -- Charles Edward Sanders, 68, of East Prairie died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, at his home.

He was born Jan. 19, 1931, at Success, Ark., son of T.L. and Merlannie Choate Sanders. He and Mozell Watson were married Nov. 5, 1950.

He lived in Mississippi County most of his life and was a retired farmer.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Eddie and Dickie Sanders, both of East Prairie; three daughters, Sharon Thomas, Barbara "Bob" Hammontree and Pam Chance, all of East Prairie; two brothers, Ben Dunnigan of Fredricktown and J.T. Walker of California; three sisters, Ruby McGraw of St. Louis, Clara Lucille Decorte of Wappapello and Betty Jo Griffey of Boonville; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son and sister.

Friends may call at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie throughout the day today.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Martin Lucas will officiate, with burial in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 153 in Poplar Bluff.
