ANNA, Ill. -- Funeral for Charles Edwin Resch of Anna will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna. The Rev. Rick Hertenstein will officiate. Burial will be in Anna Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.

Resch, 87, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at Union County Hospital.

He was born July 26, 1912, in Dongola, son of Charles J. and Effie McNaughton Resch. He and Dorothy C. Sapper were married May 12, 1946, in Monroe, N.Y.

Resch was acting postmaster in Anna from 1961-63 and was postmaster from 1963 until retiring in 1977.

He attended Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church. He was a member of National Association of Postmasters, American Postal Workers Union, American Legion Post 344 and VFW Post 3455.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, John Resch of Dongola, Dale Resch of Rosedale, Ind.; a sister, Mildred Newlon of Cairo; and a granddaughter.
