Charles Roy Penrod, 88, of Jackson died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at his home. He was born Aug. 8, 1925, in Dog Holler near Neelys Landing to Clinton Wiley and Hannah Josephine Pinkerton Penrod. He and Lavern Lorraine Kutscher were married Nov. 23, 1950. She died June 29, 2005...

Charles Roy Penrod, 88, of Jackson died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at his home.

He was born Aug. 8, 1925, in Dog Holler near Neelys Landing to Clinton Wiley and Hannah Josephine Pinkerton Penrod. He and Lavern Lorraine Kutscher were married Nov. 23, 1950. She died June 29, 2005.

Penrod was a farm machinery mechanic for H & S Equipment in Jackson.

He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, serving at Iwo Jima and Japan.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at New Bethel Baptist Church near Pocahontas, with the Rev. Ken Grant officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to New Bethel Baptist Cemetery Fund.
