GRANITE CITY, Ill. -- Charles Floyd Myers, 83, of Granite City, died Monday, June 9, 2003, at Gateway Regional Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 22, 1920, in Lutesville, Mo., son of Charles and Jane Shell Myers. He and Ina Ward of Lutesville were married Oct. 26, 1940.
He moved to Granite City in 1942, and was employed as a union pipefitter at the Monsanto Corporation for 38 years before retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Niedringhaus United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife; a sister, Fern Hacke of Granite City; two daughters, Sharen Glasgow of Edwardsville, Ill., and Jeneal Colligan of Granite City; a son, Stan Myers of Granite City; a sister, Fern Hacke of Granite City; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and a sister.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Irwin Funeral Chapel in Granite City. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Gary Motta officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Edwardsville.
