Charles Mathis

THEBES, Ill. -- Charles E. "Eddie" Mathis, 61, of Thebes died Monday, June 13, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 10, 1943, in Ozark, Ill., son of Cletis and Alice Fern Marshall Mathis. He married Nancy Simmons.

Mathis was a truck driver with M&M Freight Transport Inc. in Bertrand, Mo. He was formerly of Vienna, Ill.

Survivors include three daughters, Marsha Dodson of Thebes, Mindy McKenzie of Vienna, Alice Parkhurst of Massac County, Ill.; two sons, Tim Mathis of Makanda, Ill., Michael Mathis of Thebes; a brother, Rusty Mathis of Vienna; a half sister, Beverly Cook of Carbondale, Ill.; and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son.

Friends may call at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gilead Cemetery near Simpson, Ill.
