Charles Lavelle Lynxwiler, 66, of Paducah, Ky., died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006.
He was born Nov. 18, 1939, in New Madrid County, Mo., son of Herbert S. and Mattie Auvine Lynxwiler. He moved to Sikeston, Mo., in 1945 and attended Sikeston public schools. He received a degree in elementary education from Southeast Missouri State University in 1961.
Lynxwiler was a teacher in the Cape Girardeau School District, and in 1967 began a career in the grocery business. He managed stores for Liberty Supermarkets in Cape Girardeau and Blytheville, Ark., and worked for Malone and Hyde-Fleming Wholesale Grocers in Sikeston, Henderson, Ky., and Memphis, Tenn.
In 1986 he and his wife purchased retail grocery stores in Mayfield and Calvert City, Ky., which they operated until 1993. He was currently a retail counselor with Winkler Wholesale Grocers of Dale, Ind.
He was a Kentucky Colonel, member of Heartland Worship Center in Paducah and its HIS Sunday School Class. He was a former member of Kentucky Grocers Association Board of Directors.
Survivors include his wife, the former Beverly Latham; a son, William Lynxwiler of Hopkinsville, Ky.; a daughter, Melissa Arnold of Bowling Green, Ky.; a brother, Larry Lynxwiler of New Madrid, Mo.; and a granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter.
Friends may call at Milner and Orr Funeral Home in Paducah after 4 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Johnny Sams and Mitch Jackson officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
