EAST PRAIRIE -- Funeral service for Charles V. Lingle Sr. of East Prairie will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Harold Norton and Charles Carr will officiate, with burial in Dogwood Cemetery.
Lingle, 72, died Thursday, June 19, 1997, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born Aug. 19, 1924, at Charleston, son of Riley V. and Myrtle Golightly Lingle. He and Frances E. Anderson were married May 12, 1944, at Charleston.
Lingle lived most of his life in Mississippi County, and was a member of Dogwood Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Charles Lingle Jr. of East Prairie; two daughters, Elizabeth Smithson of Cunningham, Ky., Ellen Lough of East Prairie; a brother, Ralph Lingle of East Prairie; a sister, Evelyn Cogdill of Gary, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
