McCLURE, Ill. -- Charles E. "Sonny" Koenig, 72, of Wilmington, Del., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009.
Sonny cheered on No. 88 NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. He was known to many others on his CB under his handle, "Judge."
He will be missed by his loving family and faithful sidekicks, Patches and Hailey.
Sonny is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Marguerite Koenig; three daughters, Kathy Koenig Matlock and husband Rollie, Erin Leigh Wienner and husband Marc, Diane Abel and husband Rick; a sister, Norma Jean Jank; six grandchildren, Clay and Clint Matlock, David G. Wienner, Jennifer McClatchey, Courtney Paul, Steve Androski Jr.; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Koenig Jr.; a granddaughter, Jennifer Leigh Wienner; and parents, Theodore and Mary Koenig.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at McClure Baptist Church in McClure, followed by a service in celebration of Sonny's life at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery on the Grapevine Trail in east McClure, Ill.
Crain Funeral Home of Tamms, Ill., is in charge of arrangements.
