Charles E. Jackson, 69, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, June 7, 2000, at his home. He was born Jan. 4, 1931, in Cape Girardeau, son of James Artie and Beatrice Hildebrand Jackson. He and Phyllis Griffin were married April 28, 1956, at Chaffee. Jackson worked at Marquette Cement Manufacturing 13 years, Central Packing Co. 12 years, and retired from Southeast Missouri State University where he was employed in the maintenance department 12 years. Charles E. Jackson, 69, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, June 7, 2000, at his home.

He was born Jan. 4, 1931, in Cape Girardeau, son of James Artie and Beatrice Hildebrand Jackson. He and Phyllis Griffin were married April 28, 1956, at Chaffee.

Jackson worked at Marquette Cement Manufacturing 13 years, Central Packing Co. 12 years, and retired from Southeast Missouri State University where he was employed in the maintenance department 12 years. He had also had a country music band.

He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, life member of VFW Post 3838, and charter member of Eagles Aerie 3775.

Jackson served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Brad, Brian and Bruce Jackson, all of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Kathy Huffman of Benton; a sister, Susan Teichman of Cape Girardeau; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, and a sister.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum, with military rites by VFW Post 3838.
