PADUCAH, Ky. -- Charles Lee "Charlie" Headrick, 73, of Paducah died Friday, Dec. 11, 1998, at Western Baptist Memorial Hospital in Paducah. He was a retired real estate agent and had worked several years for American Greeting and General Mills. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II, seeing action in Bougainville, the Solomon Islands and other parts of the South Pacific. ...

PADUCAH, Ky. -- Charles Lee "Charlie" Headrick, 73, of Paducah died Friday, Dec. 11, 1998, at Western Baptist Memorial Hospital in Paducah.

He was a retired real estate agent and had worked several years for American Greeting and General Mills. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II, seeing action in Bougainville, the Solomon Islands and other parts of the South Pacific. He was recalled during the Korean War. He received the Navy Commendation, Presidential Citation, Philippine Liberation, American Theater and Victory medals, and the Good Conduct ribbon.

He was an honorary Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Marine Corps League.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Thurman Headrick; two sons, Charles Kevin Headrick of Paducah and Raine Troupe of Murphysboro, Ill.; a daughter, Andrea Hampton of Paducah; two brothers, Bill Headrick of Cape Giardeau and Flaud Headrick of Coconut Creek, Fla.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Service will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church in Paducah, with the Rev. Gerald Calhoun officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, with full military rites.

Friends may call at Milner and Orr Funeral home in Paducah from noon to 9 Monday and from 8 to noon Tuesday.
