BERTRAND -- Charles Arvel Hayden, 64, of Bertrand died Monday, May 19, 1997, near Indio, Calif. He was born Feb. 2, 1933, in East Prairie, son of Lloyd Phillip and Thelma Justine White Hayden Sr. He and Lorraine Thompson were married June 14, 1972. A lifelong resident of Mississippi County, he was employed by Big Lake Trucking Co. of Charleston. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Bertrand. BERTRAND -- Charles Arvel Hayden, 64, of Bertrand died Monday, May 19, 1997, near Indio, Calif.

He was born Feb. 2, 1933, in East Prairie, son of Lloyd Phillip and Thelma Justine White Hayden Sr. He and Lorraine Thompson were married June 14, 1972.

A lifelong resident of Mississippi County, he was employed by Big Lake Trucking Co. of Charleston. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Bertrand. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife; seven sons, Michael Hall of Bradyville, Iowa, Robert Karidis of Cairo, Ga., Charles Hayden of Charleston, Michael Hayden of Arkansas, David Kasza of Baltimore, Md., Richard Hayden of Anniston, Trent Hayden of Bertrand; eight daughters, Ann Dulinskas of Chicago, Louise Hayden, Kim McCameron, Dawn Kasza and Betty Hayden, all of Charleston, Joan Hull of Bradyville, Debra Messersmith of Colorado Springs, Colo., Mary Hayden of Sikeston.

He is also survived by three brothers, Delbert Hayden of Chesapeake, Va., Lowell Hayden of Charleston, Johnny Hayden of Valinda, Calif.; four sisters, Doris Rose and Beverly Harris of Charleston, Annie Ellis of East Prairie, Sheila Kersey of Littleton, Colo.; 25 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.

Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston after 9:30 a.m. Friday.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Amos Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery.
