CANALOU -- Charles H. Drake, 76, of Canalou, died Thursday, Sept. 28, 1995, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
He was born Jan. 7, 1919, at Canalou, son of Grover T. and Helen E. Bean Drake. He and Orlene Carlton were married Sept. 12, 1978, at Benton.
Drake was a retired truck driver, and life member of Disabled American Veterans. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Donna Riggs of Fresno, Ohio, Mary Salmons of Nova, Ohio, Margaret Grindstaff of Coshocton, Ohio, Sharon Grindstaff of Wakeman, Ohio, Charline Barbee of Oberlin, Ohio; his mother of Canalou; a stepson, Garrel Lee of Morehouse; two sisters, Daphna Dorrell of Charleston, Carolyn Graham of Springfield; 18 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Morehouse from 5-9 p.m. today. A DAV service will be held at 7.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Michael Cartwright and Jimmy Vent officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.
