SIKESTON -- Funeral service for Charles Hardin French of Sikeston will be held at 3 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Fred Leist and Jim Davis officiating. Private burial will be in Sikeston City Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church from 2:30 until service time.
Nunnelee Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
French, 68, died Monday, Nov. 10, 1997, at his home, following a lengthy illness.
He was born Jan. 15, 1929, in Oklahoma City, Okla., son of Charles H. and Annette Smith French.
French attended Sikeston Public Schools, Westminster College at Fulton, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and the University of Missouri-Columbia where he received degrees in mathematics, accounting and business administration.
He was employed 25 years as senior vice president of operations at Valley Barge Line Co. in Clayton. He was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Sikeston.
French was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He served in the Office of Special Investigation at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
Survivors include his mother of Sikeston; and a sister, Linda Last of Wellesley, Mass.
He was preceded in death by his father.
