CANALOU -- Funeral service for Charles F. Chesser of Canalou will be held at 2 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Woodrow Phillips will officiate, with burial in Matthews Cemetery at Matthews.

Chesser, 88, died Thursday, May 4, 1995, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born July 5, 1906, in Russellville, Ark., son of Jethro Franklin and Arie Voliva Chesser. He was married to Maude M. Stone in 1931, who preceded him in death Feb. 15, 1965. He married Elva Blackwell March 19, 1966.

Chesser was a farmer, carpenter and blacksmith and was a member of Morehouse Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife of Palacios, Texas; five sons, Bill Chesser of Jasonville, Ind., John Chesser of Benton, Lon Chesser of Clarksville, Ark., James Chesser of Mooresville, Ind., Denver Chesser of Avon, Ind.; a daughter, Janie Casey of Sun City, Ariz.; three sisters, Beulah Cochran of Dexter, Leona Whitworth of Morgantown, Ind., and Ethel Standen of Lathrop, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
