ADVANCE -- Charles E. Dowdy, 65, of Bell City, Mo., died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1992, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 21, 1928, at Bardwell, Ky., son of Orvil Cletus and Nellie Mae Dowdy.
He married Dorothy Hubbard on March 9, 1968, in St. Louis.
Dowdy was a retired truck driver. He worked for Campbell's 66 Trucking Co., in St. Louis for more than 20 years.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Charles W. Dowdy of Sikeston, Jerry Dowdy of Blandville, Ky., Phillip Dowdy of Bardwell, Ky., William C. Dowdy of Bell City; seven daughters, Shelia Farahan of Fort Worth, Texas, Carla and Darla Dowdy of Columbia, Mo., Wanda Heath of Mayfield, Ky., Vickie Scott of St. Louis, Peggy King of Oakton, Ky., Tracy Cruse of Bell City; a step-son, Dannie Russell of Pevely, Mo.; a step-daughter, Shirley Sauceda of Chaffee; 35 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son.
Friends may call from 4:30-9 p.m. Tuesday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Morgan Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Breland officiating.
Burial and military rites will follow in Morgan Memorial Park Cemetery.
