Charles Edward Davis, 82, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, at the Monticello House in Jackson.

He was born Friday, July 15, 1932, in Dutchtown, to Harrison H. and Grace Mae Lape Davis.

He and Rosetta Propst were married Sept. 3, 1952, in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Charles served in the U.S. Air Force. He later served in the U.S. Navy Reserves and retired from the Navy Seabees. He worked at AT&T 33 years and after retirement worked as an electrician. He was a member of VFW Post 3838.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Rosetta Davis of Cape Girardeau; three sons, Barry (Darla) Davis of Tustin, California, Eddie Davis of Springfield, Missouri, and Mark Davis of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Sheree Sperling of Cape Girardeau and Debra (John) Fantz of Otterville, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Sharon Davis of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Hazel Gross of Cape Girardeau and Judy Wunderlich of Jackson; six grandchildren, Christopher (Krissi) Davis, Jason (Sina) Sperling, Douglas (Kelly) Davis, Amanda Davis, Christy (Jarrett) Killen and Maegan Davis; three great-grandchildren, Creed and Charleigh Davis and Cooper Sperling.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Randy Charles Davis; three brothers; two sisters; and a son-in-law, Gary Sperling.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Hobbs Chapel United Methodist Church.

Memorial service including a military tribute will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Stan Hargis officiating.

Memorial contributions may be given to Hobbs Chapel United Methodist Church or the charity of choice.
