Charles Curtner

Charles R. Curtner, 83, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., and Jackson died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Nov. 27, 1920, in Sikeston, son of Clarence and Edith Shafer Curtner. He and Reva Noyes were married July 25, 1940, in Charleston, Mo.

Curtner was a farmer and had worked for the Missouri State Highway Department.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Charles Curtner of West Seneca, N.Y., and Gary Curtner of Corryton, Tenn.; four daughters, Patricia Summers and Janet Miller of Cape Girardeau, Carolyn Arwood of Sevierville, Tenn., Julie Hupp of Benton, Mo.; two brothers, Larry Curtner of Sikeston, Don Curtner of Taylorville, Ill.; a sister, Glenda Ables of Rogersville, Mo.; 24 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, four brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Amos Johnson officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
