ARNOLD, Mo. -- Charles Robert Clore passed away Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019, at Woodland Manor.
He was born June 27, 1936, in Cape Girardeau to Charles Scott and Frieda Clore.
There, he lived and attended Lutheran school and graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1954. While in high school, he played football and was given the nickname "Clara Bell."
Charles joined the Missouri National Guard in Cape Girardeau in 1954. He served eight years and received his honorable discharge in 1962.
He was an apprentice butcher for A & P Grocery store and worked his way to store manager. He ended his career at A & P when the store closed and made his way to the Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. in Cape Girardeau. Charles was the district manager and would be seen throughout town in his Pepsi truck setting up for events such as the SEMO District Fair, large church picnics and any other event that needed a cool, refreshing drink of Pepsi.
Charles married his high school sweetheart, Janet Brennan, and had two daughters, Kali and Melissa.
He loved his pets dearly, especially his best dog, Nicholas, and his two loving cats, Louis and Precious. He also enjoyed the outdoors, trout fishing at Montauk State Park, duck hunting and camping. He loved working in the yard and doing crafts with his wife, Janet. Charles would do all of the woodworking, while Janet focused on the painting and decorating. Later in life, he enjoyed playing golf with his sons-in-law and church friends.
In 1981, the family moved to the St. Louis area and settled in the Imperial, Missouri, area. He retired in 2000 from 3-D Distributing, after many years as a warehouse supervisor.
Charles was preceded in death by his father and mother.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janet Clore, and his daughters, Kali (Alan) Gowen of Dittmer Missouri, and Melissa (Patrick) Montgomery of Herculaneum, Missouri. He is loved and adored by his grandsons, Alex Gowen, Zach Gowen and Brennan Montgomery.
He will be dearly missed by all of those who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Kutis Funeral Home on Butler Hill Road in St. Louis.
Funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to New Hope Methodist Church in Arnold or Humane Society of the Greater St. Louis Area.
