TAMMS, Ill. -- Charles "Chick" Hood, 91, of Tamms died at 7:56 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, at Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 29, 1925, the son of Daniel and Mae Clardy Hood. He married Viola Smith, who preceded him in death, then later he married Mary Hale Croft, who also precede him in death.
Chick worked for Tucker Truck Lines and did construction. He was a member of the 574 Teamsters Union and served on the Tamms Village Board. Chick was a member of Villa Ridge Union Church.
Surviving loved ones are Sherry and Bruce Vick, Dennis and Dianna Croft, Buddy Mitchell, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wives. Also, he was preceded in death by Viola's children, Phyllis Carney and Tom Carney; Mary's children, Carol Mitchell and George Croft; sisters, Maude Schuler and Virgie Lawler; and brothers, Arlie Lee Hood, James Hood, Curtis Clardy and Amos Clardy.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Spencer Heights Cemetery in Mounds, Illinois, with the Rev. Larry Buckles officiating.
