Charles Michael Burger, 69, of Scott City passed away Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014, at his home, with his family by his side.

He was born Oct. 3, 1944, in Cape Girardeau, to Louis Charles and Anna Marie Enderle Burger. He and Carol Ann Dohogne were married April 19, 1965. They were happily married 49 years.

Charlie retired from Drury Co. in 2008 after 45 years of loyal service as an ironworker. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso, Missouri, and Knights of Columbus Council 6420 in Scott City.

He served in the National Guard six years.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Brian (Lisa) Burger of Jackson, Mike (Cindy) Burger of Millersville and Kirt (Kelly) Burger of Jackson; two daughters, Kim (Doug) Jansen of Chaffee and Sandy McNeely of Scott City; nine grandchildren, Derek (Katie) Miller, Ashley (Matt) Diebold, Josh Tucker, Courtney Burger, Malary Burger, Kaia Burger, Caleb Jansen, Cody McNeely and Megan (Jordan) LeDure; six great-grandchildren, Danica Miller, Drake Miller, Mason Diebold, Aidan Diebold, Haileigh Obermann and Tristan LeDure; a brother, Ronnie (Karen) Burger of Scott City; many nieces, nephews and family members whom he loved very much.

Charlie loved to bird hunt and owned and operated Burger's Shooting Preserve in Fruitland with his sons. He loved to travel and watch music shows with his wife, Carol. His favorite singer of all was Sylvia Kern. His family was the center of his life. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was their biggest fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Charles and Anna Marie Burger.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at St. Augustine Church. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m., followed by a Knights of Columbus service.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Oliver Clavin as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery.
