Funeral service for Charles Edward Brown III of St. Louis was held Monday at Our Lady of Loretto Church in Spanish Lake. Burial was in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
Buchholz Spanish Lake Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
Brown, 63, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center. He had resided at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau for a year.
He was born Nov. 14, 1934, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, son of Dr. Charles Edward and Elizabeth Burke Brown. He and Janice Stobbs were married July 5, 1958, in Alton, Ill.
Brown was employed by IBM Corp. 39 years, retiring as a systems engineer. He was a supply corps officer in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Charles Brown IV, William and Daniel Brown, all of St. Louis, Gregory Brown of Chicago; two brothers, James Brown of St. Louis, Gerald Brown of Penfield, Ill.; two sisters, Ann Grothe of St. Petersburg, Fla., Mary Harper of Griffin, Ga.; and two grandsons.
