Charles Behymer

Charles G. "Bud" Behymer, 73, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Murphysboro, Ill.

He was born May 19, 1933, in Cooperstown, Ill., son of Charles Otis and Mamie Irene Baldwin Behymer.

A veteran of the Korean conflict, Behymer was in the U.S. Air Force from Oct. 16, 1950, to Oct. 15, 1954.

He was a member of VFW Post 3838 and St. Andrew Lutheran Church.

Behymer drove a truck for AA Auto Transport in Woodriver, Ill., and for Commercial Transport in Cape Girardeau more than 10 years.

Survivors include three daughters, Jerrie Miller-Horman of Marengo, Ill., Jackie Rock and Joie Schuh of Springfield, Ill.; a son, Clifford "Buddy" Behymer of Libertyville, Ill.; three sisters, Louise Rohn, Judy Nickels and Mary Jo McClure, all of Silsbee, Texas; a brother, Roy Behymer of Bloomington, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, two sisters and a brother.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Salvation Army, conducted by Maj. Robert Gauthier. A service with VFW Post 3838 will conclude the service.
