ADVANCE -- Charles R. Bailey, 86, of Advance died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born June 24, 1911, in Big Stone Gap, Va., son of Rufus and Cora Mullins Bailey. He and Virginia McCoy were married May 13, 1946, in Greenville, Ky.

Bailey was retired from Peabody Coal Co. in Kentucky. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Charles McCoy of Drakesboro, Ky.; two daughters, Diann Hale and Sue Caby of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by seven sisters and four brothers.

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Morgan Memorial Park, with Bill Smith officiating.

Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Thursday.
