EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- Charlene Davis of East Prairie, 89, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021.
Charlene was born Aug. 3, 1931, in East Prairie, daughter of the late Otto Conn and Gladys Lippmann. On March 26, 1950, Charlene married L.D. Davis. He preceded her in death in 2011.
She was co-owner of the L.D. Davis Lumber Company before retiring.
Charlene was honored by the East Prairie Chamber of Commerce with the Woman of the Year Award in 1973. She devoted many years to the Boy Scouts of America and was the Neighborhood Chairman of the Cotton Boll Council of the Girl Scouts of America.
She is survived by one son, Chuck (Terri) Davis of East Prairie; daughter, Liz (Larry) Martin of Cape Girardeau; eight grandchildren, Conn (Miranda) Davis, Scot (Caitlin) Davis, Crockette Leible, Heather (David) Wagner, Tom Cutlip, Tim (Ashley) Cutlip, Chris (Laura) Martin and Austin Martin; and 10 great-grandchildren, Chris, Brody, Annette, Alexander, Ellie, Maya, Leo, Hunter, Lilly and Sophie.
In addition to her husband and parents, Charlene was preceded in death by one sister, Roberta Hunter.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service on Friday at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie
The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Pastor Dawn Walters of East Prairie Church of God will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery at Dogwood, Missouri.
The family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the East Prairie First Church of God or the Nelson Memorial United Methodist Church in East Prairie.
