HAYWOOD CITY, Mo. -- Charity M. Ward, 82, of Haywood City died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002, at the home of a son in Cape Girardeau. She was born Oct. 2, 1920, in Pickens, Miss., daughter of the Rev. Milton and Elizabeth Young Chappell. She and Robert Ward were married Dec. 6, 1941...

HAYWOOD CITY, Mo. -- Charity M. Ward, 82, of Haywood City died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002, at the home of a son in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Oct. 2, 1920, in Pickens, Miss., daughter of the Rev. Milton and Elizabeth Young Chappell. She and Robert Ward were married Dec. 6, 1941.

Survivors include her husband; 12 sons, John and Ervin Ward of Cape Girardeau, Robert Jr., Frank and Louis Ward of St. Louis, Leo Ward of East St. Louis, Ill., Lonnie Ward of Indianapolis, Ind., Joe and Philemon Ward of Florissant, Mo., Winfred Ward of Sikeston, Mo., Stephen Ward of Dellwood, Mo., and Ashley Ward of Haywood City.

Also surviving is a daughter, Pauline Otey of St. Charles, Mo.; a brother, Abel Chappell of Oxnard, Calif.; a sister, Pauline Clark of Marion, Ind.; 30 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Bell City Church of God in Christ in Bell City, Mo., from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, with Elder David Pullen officiating. Burial will be in J.C. Pullen Memorial Garden at Bell City.

Williams-Farr and Purnell Funeral Home in Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
