SIKESTON, Mo. -- Cecil Clayborn Wallace, 88, of Sikeston died at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born March 8, 1912, in Doniphan, son of James Franklin and Ida Smith Wallace. He and Burdine Phillips were married in September 1936 in Benton. She died in 1972.
Wallace was a roofer for Carr Roofing Co. He moved in 1957 to Las Vegas, where he was a dealer for the Fremont Hotel and Casino for two years, and for 24 years with the Golden Nugget Casino. He retired in 1979 and moved back to Sikeston.
He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Sikeston.
Survivors include one brother, Buddy Wallace, and one sister, Helen Oliver, both of Sikeston.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers and four sisters.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston between noon and 2 p.m. Sunday. Funeral will immediately follow, with the Rev. John Bouldrey officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
