CECIL O. MCDOWELL

JACKSON -- Cecil O. McDowell, 83, of Jackson, formerly of Doniphan, died Friday, March 19, 1993, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Jan. 29, 1910 in Ripley county, son of David and Sarah McDowell.

He married Uvalde Lassen on June 27, 1935. She survives.

Other survivors included three daughters, Gloria Craig of Overland Park, Kan.; Clarice Jones of Jackson; Carol Williams, of Nashville, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald McDowell, in 1961.

McDowell lived most of his life in Ripley and Carter counties where was engaged in farming. He was also a carpenter. The McDowells moved to Jackson in 1989. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jackson.

Service will be held at the Edwards Funeral Chapel in Doniphan at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Luther Rhodes, pastor of First General Baptist Church in Jackson and the Rev. Don Craig, McDowell's son-in-law, a pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Lenexa, Kan., officiating. Burial will be in the Macedonia Cemetery near Doniphan.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Monday.
